CHICAGO – Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says he isn't going to recommend a candidate to succeed him and that it's up to voters to decide who they want to lead them.

Daley's comments to reporters Wednesday came a day after he announced that he won't seek re-election after more than two decades as mayor.

The Democrat says being mayor of Chicago is "the best job in America" and he isn't sure what he'll do next.

Daley says he has been feeling good since announcing his decision and he reiterated that there wasn't one big reason for his decision not to run, and that it was just time to step aside.

The mayoral election is in February.
